NULO was founded in Austin, Texas, by Michael Landa, who was inspired by his always-active Labrador Retriever, Max. When he couldn\u2019t find the right dog sitter for Max, Michael took the step that every pet parent dreams about\u2014he quit his corporate job and decided to start his own pet care business. That\u2019s when he learned about the increasing trend in overweight pets and in the administration of at-home insulin shots for diabetic cats and dogs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Upon further investigation, Michael learned that many pet foods were filled with empty calories that came from filler ingredients like carbohydrates. Some contained more than 40% carb fillers, and meat protein was \u201csupported\u201d by high levels of plant-based proteins\u2014that just won\u2019t do for a carnivore diet.<\/span><\/p>\n

This was when Michael decided to start NULO. With the help of leading animal nutritionists, veterinarians and food formulators, the company now offers dozens of recipes made with great sources of animal-based proteins that are low in carbs and that use low-glycemic ingredients to promote healthy body condition and stable energy. Of course, Max is still involved, working as NULO\u2019s chief tasting officer!<\/span><\/p>\n
