And it\u2019s because they\u2019re important sensory organs \u2013 called proprioceptors\u00a0\u2013 \u00a0that shoot messages to the brain and nervous system, allowing\u00a0your cat to understand their surroundings and respond quickly to perceived changes or threats.<\/p>\n<p>Whiskers give cats their stalking power! They are able to navigate confidently through a dark room \u2013 constantly feeling for walls, furniture and picking up on\u00a0<em>tiny directional changes in the air.<\/em>..it\u2019s really pretty awesome!<\/p>\n<p>But when it comes to the day-to-day life of a cat, their whiskers are so sensitive that they can easily get overworked or fatigued by unnecessary friction. One of the most common instances of this is during feeding time.\u00a0\u00a0If you use a regular bowl, his whiskers are very likely going to make contact with the sides and bottom of the dish, which can turn eating into a really stressful situation!<\/p>\n<h2>SIGNS OF WHISKER FATIGUE:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Leaving food in the bowl<\/li>\n<li>Only eatting from the center of the bowl<\/li>\n<li>Playing with her food<\/li>\n<li>Pulling or pawing food out the bowl before chowing down on the floor or table<\/li>\n<li>Standing or pacing around the bowl before starting to eat<\/li>\n<li>Showing signs of hesitation even if they are hungry<\/li>\n<li>Acting aggressively towards other animals in the house during mealtime<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>HOW TO MAKE DINNER ENJOYABLE AGAIN:<\/h2>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Don\u2019t assume it\u2019s the food they have a problem with \u2013 test their regular food on a plate to see if their preference changes<\/li>\n<li>If so, transition to a low, shallow bowl for food (we love Dr. Catsby\u2019s Bowl)<\/li>\n<li>Remember the same thing can happen with a water dish, so try using a wide bowl<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>We hope this tip will help keep your feline babies purring all day long.
