Here are a couple of quick notes on what to keep your pets away from.

Cooked turkey bones – these can splinter and break. They’re just not good for Fido or Baxter. Try a raw marrow bone (outside of course) or a Butcher’s Block smoked bone instead.

Any table food – rich in butter, salt, seasonings and oils, these are a recipe for a bad belly. While your pet may beg, try to avoid falling prey to those puppy dog eyes. Try Stella & Chewy’s Tantalizing Turkey freeze dried dinner instead!

Fat trimmings – seems like an easy way to do dishes, huh? Nope. Fat can cause big stomach problems all the way to pancreatitis. Just don’t do it.

Chocolate Santas – chocolate is toxic for dogs. It contains a compound similar to caffeine that can accelerate his or her heart and dilate blood vessels. Bad idea. One option: fill a Whimzees hedgehog with Primal Goat’s Milk or Dogsbutter and freeze it for a lasting, dog-friendly treat.

Nutmeg – one of those great eggnog and spice cookie ingredients, but not so great for your fur baby. It can cause central nervous system issues. So try to steer clear.

OK, so with all those “nos”, what’s a yes? How about a delish pumpkin pue recipe, made especially for your furry friend.

‘Tis the season for humans to eat lots of yummy, rich food, and for pets to try to grab at it.
